That’s my last Duchess painted on the wall, Looking as if she were alive

The Duchess.
The Duchess is loosely based on Amanda Foreman’s biography of Georgiana, the Duchess of Devonshire (wikipedia; see also The Duchess of Devonshuire’s Gossip Guide [blogspot]), who was the Diana Spencer of her day, but with a considerably greater quantity of brains. When I say “loosely based”, I mean that all the characters become un-ageing immortals and the plot has a little from here and a little from there while omitting much that was in between, before suddenly ending without any real resolution (as far as I noticed).

I’m not saying this is a Bad Film, but if you’ve read the biography (as I did many years ago), then it’s a little disappointing. Pretty cinematography, though.
