There’s really nothing much that can be said about the film that hasn’t already been said in other reviews. It’s episodic and the narrative is incoherent. I watched a short segment when I got it home yesterday afternoon and immediately recognised all the symptoms. The first book would make a decent film in its own right. The second is a prolonged episode which might be worth a few minutes in some other film, but wouldn’t be interesting enough to be a film in its own right. As for the rest, I haven’t read the books yet.
