Yup, I got myself a copy of the book. You had the choice of the normal or American versions (in latter Harry picks up his wand and says things like “Lock and load!”, or just before he fights Voldemort says, “I gonna kick yo’ ass, bitch!”; I also believe the latter is the large text version with simplified sentences).
I’ve just got to Chapter 15, but Rowling has been dropping a truck load of hints that Dumbledore wasn’t the Boy Scout he was made out to be. The horcruxes, apart from the one that was in the possession of the obnoxious Dolores Umbridge, have merely been small objects of desire. If they’re so important to the plot and the successful elimination of Voldemort, no one seems to be in a rush to destroy them. Voldemort has staged a coup d’etat and taken over the Ministry of Magic; there’s internment of Muggle-born wizards. Art seems to imitate life with recent calls from the police to bring back internment.
More later, but I see it’s really time for me to go and dine.
